1922 M.Inst.C.E., Civil (Consulting) Engineer, 3, St. Nicholas Buildings, Newcastle-on-Tyne. T. N.: Central 536, Newcastle. Pupilage served with (the late) John Thompson, C.E., Newcastle-on-Tyne. Mechanical training in the workshops of J. and G. Joicey and Co, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Seven years assistant with Sandeman and Moncrieff, M.M.Inst.C.E., Newcastle-on-Tyne. Engaged on the construction of bridges, graving docks, quay and other river work. 1905-19 --Resident Engineer to the Blyth Harbour Commissioners. Carried out harbour improvement works, including a tidal basin, coal shipping staiths, deep water quays, extensive rockbreaking and dredging operations. Now Consulting Engineer. Publications: Contributed two papers to the Institution of Civil Engineers, viz.: " Subaqueous Rock Removal " and " Dredging and Dredging Appliances," receiving for the former the Manby Premium. War Services.—Major (Royal Engineers); Dock Engineer at Rouen and other ports in the south of France.
