Born at Rotherham the son of William Owen and his wife Catherine Dyson.

1895 Died. 'Mr. George Dyson Owen, J.P., of Selwood, Doncaster Road, Rotherham, died somewhat suddenly. He has been suffering from influenza, but seemed considerably better on Thursday. Mr Owen, who was the only surviving member of a family which had been considered one of the best-known in Rotherham and district, was 52 years of age.Hie never associated himself with public life, but he was largely interested in several large local commercial concerns. He was made borough justice about four years ago, but he never qualified. He was a partner m the firm of Messrs. Owen and Dyson, Rother Ironworks, The Ickles. He was Conservative and a Churchman.'[2]
