"GEORGE EDWARD SHARP was born in 1891 and received his education at the Royal Technical College, Glasgow. He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. James Bennie and Sons, Ltd., of Glasgow, from 1907 to 1913, in whose employment he continued as junior draughtsman for another year. He then received an appointment as chief draughtsman to the Dunlop Rim and Wheel Company, Ltd., of Coventry, and began a long association with that firm which continued until his death in May 1947. He was appointed technical manager in 1934 and five years later became production superintendent. Mr. Sharp was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1926."
