1922 M.Inst.C.E., M.Amer.S.C.E., M.I.E. (Ind.), Chief Engr., Cochin Government, since 1896; b. 1867; s. of late Arrott Browning, M.Inst.C.E. Ed. Private Tuition, and at Giggleswick, Yorks. Training: Pupil to Prof. Vernon Harcourt and Davey, Paxman and Co., 1884-88; London University Coll., 1888-9. Career: Central Northern Railway. extensions, Argentine; had entire charge of Los Colorados Section; Reconnaissance Surveys for Trans-Andean Railway.; Surveys and Construction Hill Rly., India; also Hill Grove-Burliar Section of Nilgiri Mountain Railway.; made special Reconnaissances for Sir F. Upcott for West Coast Railway. extensions and developments; Res. Engr., Madras Railway; appointed to the Cochin Govt.; Ag.C.E. from November, 1896, with full powers; confirmed C.E. following year with retrospective effect; Joint Commissioner West Coast Erosion; Originator of the present Cochin Harbour Scheme; explored entire Hinterland, re Radial Railways. for same; discovered Hydro-electric possibilities of Cochin and Travancore.
