"GEORGE FRANCIS WALTON, whose untimely death occurred on 28th May 1951 at the early age of thirty-three, was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1944 and transferred to Associate Membership in 1950. His technical training was obtained at Monmouthshire Mining and Technical College and at the School of Mines and Technology, Treforest. He began a two-year apprenticeship in 1936 with Richard Thomas and Baldwins, Ltd., Ebbw Vale, where he continued for the remainder of his brief career. After seven years as a junior in the mechanical engineering drawing office he was finally promoted to the post of senior mechanical draughtsman in 1945."
