1939 M.M.I.Mech.E. Private Address: Orleans Lodge, London Road, Twickenham. Career: After training with John Imray, entered into partnership with the late Peter Brotherhood, 1871-78; developed various steam and mech. appliances, some of which were adopted by the Admiralty; 1879, began private practice as Consulting Mech. Engr. and Patent Agent; in 1882, was largely responsible for formation of Inst. of Patent Agents, which by reason of the conduct of exams. for admission to its Register, the custody of Official Roll, etc., was granted a Charter only 9 years later; was Hon. Sec. from 1882 to 1902, Vice President from 1902-1904, President of the Chartered Inst. of Patent Agents; on retirement in 1928, elected Hon. Member in recognition of services. Frequently acted as Expert Witness in the Courts.
