1930 'We regret to record the death of Mr. George Grant, which occurred suddenly last Tuesday, at his residence, 46, Southern road, West Southbourne. Mr. Grant was formerly of Chester, where he was well-known, having held the position of Divisional Superintendent on the Great Western Railway. Mr. Grant came to the North as chief clerk to the District Goods Manager at Shrewsbury. He was later made goods manager at Shrewsbury, and came to Chester in 1891 as Divisional Superintendent. Previous to there appointments, he was stationmaster in the West of England. After being at Chester for some years, Mr. Grant. in 1903, was promoted to Plymouth, and it was from there that he retired from the service. He took much interest in matters affecting the welfare of his colleagues, such as the G.W.R. Superannuation Fund.....'[1]
