George H. Faulkner

From Graces Guide

George H Faulkner, an engineer from Manchester, went to India c.1833 at the age of 20. He initially worked in Madras (Chennai) for the Irrigation Company, before moving to an area of Cuttack known as Jobra in connection with canal construction.

He started a Boat repair workshop in Jobra in 1869 under the PWD (Public Works Department).

The workshop eventually became derelict, but in 2013 it was revived to become the Odisha State Maritime Museum.
