George James Gawley (1875-1924)

George James Gawley was born in 1875, and received his engineering training in connection with agricultural machinery.
After some time spent in the promotion of mechanical road transport, he adopted engineering journalism as a profession, and it was in this capacity that he was best known. He was particularly interested in the application of mechanical transport for purposes of fire-prevention, and had been for some years past Editor of "Fire."
He died on 25th February, 1924, from kidney disease, after a lingering illness.
He was elected an Associate of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1907.
