1870 Company established by George Mann and C. Pollard and 3 other engineers, making lithographic printing equipment, which continued to be the main business of the company. Manufactured the first rotary press.

1903 Incorporated as a limited company.

1914 Lithographic printing machinery manufacturers. Make a special feature of rotary type for printing on either paper or tin. Employees 600. [1]

1917 Private company.

1947 Acquired by Vickers; machinery production was increased with help from Elswick and Scotswood works[2]
