"GEORGE MCDOUGALL, B.Sc., whose death occurred, as the result of an accident, on 26th February 1949, at the early age of thirty-five, was in the service of the transport department of the Corporation of Edinburgh throughout his brief career, including his apprenticeship from 1934 to 1936.

He was educated at Perth Academy and at the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated B.Sc. in electrical engineering in 1934. On the conclusion of his practical training he was made assistant motor 'bus maintenance engineer, and in 1939 he received his final appointment as motor 'bus engineer, with responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the Corporation's fleet of vehicles. Early in 1948 he was appointed rolling stock and works superintendent with Edinburgh Corporation Transport Department. Mr. McDougall was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1945."
