1916 Mr. George Payne, managing director of Messrs. George Payne and Co., wholesale tea and coffee dealers and cocoa manufacturers of Queen Elizabeth Street, S.E.[2]

1918 A serious fire occurred last night the premises of Messrs. George Payne and Co., Ltd., tea blenders, Tooley-street, London, destroying some 4,000 chests of tea, valued at several thousands of pounds.[3]
