1844 Sale Notice: 'TO SILK SPINNERS AND OTHERS. TO BE SOLD, BY PRIVATE CONTRACT, ALL that CAPITAL MILL and Extensive PREMISES, together with a powerful Steam Engine and Machinery for the Spinning of Silk Waste, situate on Storehouse Green, Mill Street, Congleton, belonging to the late Messrs. George Reade and Son, and now in full work. The Buildings are commodious, and well situated for hands; the Steam Engine, built by Messrs. Bateman and Sherratt, is in excellent condition, having received the latest improvements from the late Messrs. John and Thomas Sherratt. The Machinery is of the best construction, and a considerable portion of it lately new.
