1857 Gilbert & Sharp were described as stone merchants of Lees Street, Ancoats[1]

1867 Death of Benjamin Sharp [2]

1868 Hired a geared 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotive made by Isaac Watt Boulton in 1867. The following year it went to J. Aird and Sons.[3]

1870 Gilbert and Sharp's tender accepted for constructing a bridge over the River Croal at Mayer Street, Bolton[4]
