Gonzalez Byass Sherry

Wine growers and shippers.

1835 Manuel Maria Gonzalez Angel first planted the seed that would grow into Gonzalez Byass in Jerez de La Frontera in the sherry-making area of Spain, and began to exporting his own wine.

1855 Robert Blake Byass, Gonzalez's English agent, joined as a partner and the Gonzalez Byass business soon became famous, especially for its fine sherry.

1896 The firm of Gonzalez, Byass and Co, of 3 Brabant Court, London and Jerez-de-la-Frontera, Spain, decided to convert their business into a limited company. The whole of the shares were taken by the existing partners and members of the Gonzalex and Byass families, and there was no public subscription.[1]

1900s The two families remained in partnership and the business has grown to be one of Sherry's most recognisable and important names.

1988 The Gonzalez family bought out the Byass family, taking sole control of the business.
