1910 Expansion of the Southernhay premises. Gould Brothers of Southernhay and London Inn Square. '...carried out a scheme which the whole of the spacious ground floor of their Southernhay premises has been converted into a garage, with direct central entrance from the roadway, well lighted, equipped with exceptional arrangements in the way of inspection pits and wash-downs, and entirely tree frown pillars and similar obstacles so that the movement and disposition of the cars can be effected with perfect ease. The inspection pits admit five cars, and the wash-downs can, at a pinch, accommodate eight cars simultaneously. The central entrance dispenses with the inconvenience of going through any passage way. The whole of the first floor, which is carried over the garage by something like 14 tons of steel work, is devoted to workshops. Here a new feature is an engineer's shop, equipped with the most up-to-date machine tools, all of which are driven by electric power.'[8]

1925 '...disastrous fire which occurred at Exeter yesterday morning badly damaged one of the large garages of Messrs. Gould Brothers, Limited, East Southernhay'[10]
later there was another garage in Exeter called Gould's Garage at Topsham.
