1961 The station was closed.

1953 An oil-fired power station was sanctioned to be built on a site on South Denes Road; it was initially commissioned in 1957

1990s The oil-fired station was closed and demolished.

2001 A combined cycle gas turbine power station with a maximum output of 420 MW electricity was built on the site in South Denes Road.
