Greenock Steamship Co

From Graces Guide

1879 The company was registered on 18 November, with an authorised capital of £500,000. In 1899 it was proposed to shareholders that a new company be formed to take over the assets and liabilities of the Greenock Steamship Co and the Gulf Line Association Limited. Under the scheme, three or four of the older boats would be sold and the capital of the new concern considerably written down.[1]

The two existing companies went into liquidation and the new company was designated the Gulf Line Limited.[2]
