Gullane Marine Hotel
Business venture finance and built by Laurence Kelly and John Dawson, both contractors.[1]
1900 Gullane Marine Hotel Limited was incorporated as a public company, with capital of £25,000, for the purpose of acquiring the new hotel situated at the railway station, Gullane, East Lothian. The four-storey hotel was lit by electricity provided by the company's own plant. The hotel grounds were about an acre in extent and ornamental gardens were planned, as well as a lawn tennis court.[2]
1915 The company went into liquidation.[3] The hotel was taken over by the military authorities and the furnishings sold at auction.[4]
1920 For sale. 'THE GULLANE MARINE HOTEL, with Stable, Garage, etc, adjoining. The Hotel is a large and handsome structure standing in its own grounds and occupying a fine situation in close proximity to the Muirfield and Gullane Golf Courses. It is fitted with all Modern Conveniences, including Electric plant'[5]

2019 'A seaside town in East Lothian has seen one of its most striking buildings given a new lease of life following its conversion by CALA Homes to form 21 apartments. Formerly Gullane’s Marine Hotel the property was latterly in use as a training centre for Scottish Fire & Rescue in an eventful history that also included a spell as headquarters for the Polish Army during World War 2.'[7]
