Career: Entered the Navy in 1904; in command of submarines throughout the war; wounded in 1918 and invalided out in 1919 as Lieut.Comdr.; since promoted to Comdr. on retired list. On retirement, entered eng. profession, became partner in 1923, and sole partner in 1926, of Buchan & Partners, Consulting Engrs. Responsible for the eng. work in connection with the Lanarkshire HydroElectric Scheme for the Clyde Valley Power Co., the Kirkcudbrightshire elect. distribution scheme for the County Council, and numerous other elect. and hydro-elect. installations for public bodies, companies and individuals.
