HMS Agamemnon

Famed as Nelsons' favourite ship, the first HMS Agamemnon was launched in 1781 at the Bucklers Hard Dockyard in Hampshire.
C.1856 Construction of the second Agamemnon, which was fitted with engines of 600 HP. by John Penn and Sons; she attained a much higher speed than had been expected.
1858 May: Employed with the United States frigate Niagara in laying the first telegraph cable connecting England with America.
The third ship bearing the name was an Ajax-class battleship launched at Chatham Dockyard in 1879. Broken up in 1903.
