HMS Emerald

The Emerald was laid down by Armstrong, Whitworth and Co two months before the Armistice, 1918 In common with other unfinished ships of the war programme, her completion was retarded in the interests of economy, and after being launched in May, 1920, she was towed to Chatham Dockyard to be fitted out. There she remained for well over five years.[1]
