1763 Advert: 'To be Lett, and enter'd on immediately,
AN Iron Forge, situate in Halliwell, near Bolton, in the County of Lancaster , with the Cranes, Hammers, Utensils, and Implements thereto belonging, being capable of working all Kinds of large Iron Work.
Also the Buildings and Grounds lately occupied therewith by Thomas Sefton.
Enquire of Richard Wroe, at Smithills Hall, or Thomas Thomas Smedley, of Little Bolton, who will shew the Premises.'[1]
