Halton Aero Club
1924 Club founded by C. H. Latimer-Needham at RAF Halton
1927 The first aircraft that was built at Halton was the H.A.C. 1 or "Mayfly"; it was designed by officials and civilian instructors at Halton Camp. The necessary funds were raised by voluntary subscriptions among the officers, instructors and boys. The work of constructing the machine was carried out in their spare time, with the exception that some of the boys were permitted to make certain parts for it as part of their manual training[1]
Later aircraft were the H.A.C. 2 ("Minus"), the H.A.C. "Sparrow" (1929) and the H.A.C. 3 ("Meteor").[2]
