Hampstead Vestry Electricity Works

The supply of electricity was managed initially by Hampstead Council's predecessor the Hampstead Vestry, through its Electric Lighting Committee.

1893 A Central Supply Station and Head Offices were built at the Vestry's Stoneyard, Lithos Road, Hampstead

1894 Station put into operation supplying electricity to lights in Hampstead.

General plant contractors were Siemens Brothers and Co who supplied the dynamos, driven by engines from Willans and Robinson fed with steam from boilers by G. E. Belliss and Co.

1921 the bulk supply of electricity commenced from Saint Marylebone Borough Council

1922 Lithos Road ceased to generate.
