1960 TESCO stores has acquired the capital of Harrow Stores (Watford) in exchange for 1,985,577 Tesco 1s shares. Tesco's market price of 16s 6d makes the deal worth £1,638,000. Harrow Stores is a privately owned company operating as complete outfitters, furnishers and drapers from its head office and warehouse at Edgware, London and its 18 branches in the South of England. This acquisition represents Tesco's entry into the department stores business and they also obtain facilities for the development of non-food lines in their supermarket chain.[5]
