Harry Ashley Bennett was born in 1874 and received his engineering education at Nottingham University College.
He was a pupil in Civil and Mechanical Engineering with Mr. Edward Parry and remained with him for a further eight years in various capacities.
After two years as Works Manager of the Bulwell Pottery Co, he established the motor repair firm of Bennetts, of which he became Governing Director, and this position he occupied until his death.
In addition to his activities in the Motor Industry, he took an active part in numerous civic and national movements.
He was a Rotarian, a Freemason, and for some years a Member of the Nottingham City Council.
He died on June 22nd, 1937, at the age of 63.
He was elected an Associate in 1920 and transferred to Member in 1921.
