RICHARDSON, Councillor Harry, O.B.E., A.M.Inst.C.E., etc.; b. 1863 at Handsworth s. of Samuel Richardson; O.B.E., 1919. Educ.: At his father's private school in Birmingham. Articled as Civil Engineer to J. W. Brown, M.Inst.C.E., Surveyor, Aston Manor; Surveyor to Oldbury U.D.C.; Surveyor, Aston U.D.C., 1895; Surveyor, Handsworth U.D.C., 1900 to 1911; Chief Assistant City Surveyor, Birmingham, 1911 to 1928; retired into private practice; 1888, admitted member of Institution of Municipal and County Engineers; 1890, admitted Associate Member of Institution of Civil Engineers; in November, 1930, elected member of Birmingham City Council for Sandwell Ward; serves on the Education (Chairman of Sites and Buildings Sub-Committee), Assessment, and Parks Committees; representative Governor of Handsworth Grammar School; appointed Executive Officer of Birmingham Food Control Committee, 1917; and awarded O.B.E. by H.M. the King for services; commissioned in 1st Warwicks Volunteer Battalion, 1916; m. 1913, d. of the late H.
