1898 John Hastie and Company Limited was registered, with capital of £15,000, to acquire the business of the same name carried on at Kilblain Engine Works, Greenock.[1]
1961 General engineers and manufacturers of ships' steering gears, telemotors and Hele-Shaw pumps. 650 employees. [2]
1972 The company, described as the world's biggest manufacturer of ships' steering gear, was taken over jointly by Lithgows Ltd and the Weir Group for a purchase price of about £250,000.[3]
1991 The company was dissolved.[4]
