c.1882 The generating station at Earls St was brought into use, one of the first in Britain

1884 Mr H. M. Baker was chairman of the company, Mr F. B. Nicholson was engineer[1]

1899 The company was purchased by Hastings Corporation, the plant consisting of three 100-kilowatt and two 200-kilowatt Brush sets, and one 500-kilowatt Parsons turbo-generator.

1922 Extension of the electricity works, including a 1125-kilowatt Brush-Ljungstrom turbo-nlternator set with condenser, two Stirling boilers with Underfeed self-contained stokers, a Premier cooling tower, and new pipe work. [2]
