Richard Hattersley (1761-1829) served an apprenticeship at Kirkstall Forge

1789 After completion of his apprenticeship, he formed a company to produce nuts and bolts.

Later he saw opportunities in connection with the developments in the textile industry and set up George Hattersley and Sons, also in Keighley
