Hazelton and Sheppard

From Graces Guide

of Lurgan

1857 '...a movement contemplated by Messrs. Hazelton and Sheppard of Lurgan and Armagh to establish the manufacture of cambric handkerchiefs and similar fabrics in this city. They propose to introduce a number of looms, with skilled hands to work them, and, at the same time instruct in the art numbers of the unemployed girls and lads, who now pursue a profitless life in our streets. We trust this spirited attempt to commence a new feature in the trade of Armagh will meet its reward.'[1]
