1887 The business was founded by Wilhelm Hellesen.

Wilhelm Hellesen invented and patented the dry battery

1892 Wilhelm died before his invention really broke through. After his death, his wife, along with the co-founder Hans Valdemar Ludvigsen, continued under the name Hellesen Enke & V. Ludvigsen.

c1904 British agents: Fuller, Macleod and Co

1906 Represented in Britain by A. H. Hunt

The company's logo was a tiger.

1986 GN Great Nordic Group sold its Hellesens consumer battery unit[1]

1986 Duracell acquired the rights to the name and logo

1987 the factory changed its name to GN Alkaline Batteries A/S

2004 The last battery factory in Denmark was closed, after which the production lines were sent to Singapore.
