HENEAGE GREVILLE FINCH, Lord Guernsey, who was elected a member of the Institute of Metals in December 1913, was the first member of the Institute reported to be killed in the European War, his death in action at the battle of the Aisne having occurred on September 19, 1914.

Lord Guernsey was a captain in the Irish Guards, and was the eldest son of Lord Aylesford, being thirty-one years of age. He acted as aide-de-camp to the Governor of Gibraltar from 1905 until 1913, and in the latter year became associated with Messrs. Duram, Ltd., manufacturers of tungsten metal, of which company Lord Guernsey was Chairman at the time of his death.
