c1836 Born in Liverpool the son of William Robert Preston, iron founder, and his wife Ellen Sarah[1]

1864 Married at Walthamstow to Sarah Caroline Grey Berthon. 'On the 9th inst., at the parish church, Walthamstow, the Rev. Edward Lyon Berthon, M.A., vicar of Romsey, Henry Berthon Preston, Esq , of Liverpool, second son of William Robert Preston, Esq., of Mine-deed Lodge, Lyndhurst, to Sarah Caroline Grey, youngest daughter. Peter Henry Berthen, Esq., of The Forest, Walthamstow.'[2]

1871 Living at 72 Devonshire Road, Toxteth Park, Liverpool: Henry B. Preston (age 36 born Liverpool), Mechanical Engineer. With his wife Sarah C. G. Preston (age 29 born Walthamstow) and their two daughters Caroline S. F. Preston (age 3 born Liverpool) and Ellen V. Preston (age 1 born Liverpool). Two servants.[3]
