HENRY EGBERT MOORE. who was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1930, was an electrical engineer for most of his career. He passed much of the early portion of his life in South Africa, where he completed his education at the Transvaal University College, Johannesburg, and served his apprenticeship, from 1898 until 1906, with various engineering and electrical firms in Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. During the succeeding eight years he held positions as electrical engineer with several gold- and diamond-mining companies.

In 1914 he returned to England and from that time until his death, which occurred in his sixtieth year on 25th July 1942, he was engaged professionally at Luton, his first position being that of assistant electrician to the Skefko Ball Bearing Company. Two years later he was appointed chief engineer to Messrs. Hewlett and Blondeau, aeroplane manufacturers, and held this post until 1920. He returned in 1921 to the Skefko Ball Bearing Company in the capacity of electrical engineer and five years later he took up an appointment as plant engineer to Messrs. Electrolux, Ltd., and remained with that firm until 1942.
