HENRY IVOR COE died in February 1924.

He was born in Glamorganshire in 1887, and was educated at Lewis' School, Pengam, the University College, Cardiff, and the Birmingham University. He took the degree of M.Sc. in the Universities of Birmingham and Wales. For two years he held the post of assistant lecturer in metallurgy in the Municipal School, Birmingham, and was later appointed assistant lecturer in metallurgy in the Birmingham University.

At the time of his death he was lecturer in metallurgy at the University College of Swansea.

He was the author of two papers presented to the Institute, "Manganese in Cast Iron and the Volume Changes during Cooling," published in 1910, and "The Influence of the Metalloids on the Proper- ties of Cast Iron," published in 1913. He also presented a number of papers to the British Foundrymen's Association and other societies.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1912.
