1838 Born the son of William Hargrave. First cousin to Charles Townshend Hargrave

Trained at the Engineering School, Trinity College, Dublin

1859 Joined the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway

1876-70 Reclamation of Back Bay

1878-81 Engineer on the building of the Nerbudda Bridge

1881 Married in Bombay to Augusta Blanche Gresley

1905 July 30th. Died. 'HARGRAVE- July 30, at Matlock, Derbyshire, Henry James Bennett Hargrave, M.A., M.I.C.E.. of 16 Shrewsbury road, Dublin, late Chief Engineer of Bombay, Baroda, and Central India Railway Co., youngest son of the late Surgeon Hargrave, ex-Professor of Surgery. Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, aged 67'[1]
