1862 Henry Lea started business on his own account as a consulting engineer in Birmingham, mainly in mechanical engineering

1882 Added electrical work to the practice.

1886 William Henry Thornbery joined Mr Lea, forming Henry Lea and Thornberry

c.1898 Mr Thornbery left the practice, which presumably then became Henry Lea and Son
