HENRY MINCHIN SIMONS, born in 1824, proceeded to Singapore in 1848.

There, in conjunction with the late Mr. W. Paterson, he founded the firm of Paterson, Simons and Company. Subsequently he assisted in the initiation of the New Harbour Dock Company at Singapore, of the Johore steam saw-mills, and of several other enterprises in Johore, for the government of which State the firm of Paterson, Simons and Company acted as agents.

Mr. Simons was also for a time a partner and managing director of the Bowling Iron Company.

He died at his residence, 72 Courtfield Gardens, Kensington, on the 5th December, 1901.

Mr. Simons was elected an Associate of the Institution on the 11th Nay, 1869.
