"HENRY MORGAN MUSSELWHITE was born in 1879 and received his general education at Ashford Grammar School.
His apprenticeship was served with Messrs. G. K. Stothert and Company, Ltd., marine engineers, of Bristol, from 1896 to 1902, and during the same period he attended classes at the Merchant Venturers' Technical College. From 1906 to 1912 he successively filled positions as chief engineer and works manager to the Chick Carden Co, public works contractors; engineer to Mr. W. Manders, tramway and railway contractor; and chief engineer to Messrs. Marshall Lovell, public works contractors, of Bristol. He then went to Birmingham to become chief district ' permanent way engineer in the Corporation's tramways, and began a connection with that city which lasted to the end of his career. He was made Chief Engineer for the Birmingham City Transport in 1936 and held that appointment until his retirement in 1940. Mr. Musselwhite was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1931 and was transferred to Associate Member ship in 1937. His death occurred on 7th November 1948."
