Henry Reed (Croydon)

Henry Reed, Pastry Cook and Confectioner, of 11, London Road, West Croydon.

1861 Henry and Harriet Reed originally from Brighton, lived at Canterbury Road, Croydon.[1]

In the mid 1860s they moved to London Road and started running a bakery at no. 21.[2]

1871 Employed 10 assistants, five of whom lived on the premises.[3]

1880 Henry and Harriet Reed occupied what was known as 'The Villa' on what was previously the Oakfield Estate.[4]

1881 Census lists Henry as a baker employing 3 men, 1 boy and 2 females.

They remained at the Villa until circa 1887 when they moved to Kidderminster Road.[5]
