HENRY THOMSON was born in 1863, and after leaving school served his apprenticeship, from 1878 to 1883, in the works of Messrs. C. Davidson and Sons, Ltd., papermakers, Aberdeen, and he remained with them as draughtsman until 1884.

He then spent some three years with Messrs. McKinnon and Co., engineers, of Aberdeen, and with Messrs. A. Pirie and Son, Ltd., of the Union Works, Aberdeen.

In 1886 he left England to become engineer to the Cawnpore Woollen Mills Co., Ltd., Cawnpore, India.

Mr. Thomson died in London on 29th April 1924.

He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1894.
