We note with regret the death of Mr. Herbert Arthur Lingard, which occurred at Ewell, Surrey, on April 18th, at the age of seventy.

Until his retirement in 1948, Mr. Lingard had been for seventeen years a director of the British Thomson-Houston Company, Ltd., which firm he joined in 1904.

For some years Mr. Lingard was the general manager of the company's lamps and lighting department. He was a former member of the council of the Electric Lamp Manufacturers' Association.
