1964 Obituary[1]

"We record with regret the death of Mr. Herbert John Sheppard, one time managing director of Johnson and Phillips Ltd., who died on July 25 at the age of ninety-one. Mr. Sheppard joined the counting house of Johnson and Phillips in the 1890's, when it was still a private partnership, and became company secretary in 1905, within a few weeks of the firm becoming a limited company. In 1912 he joined the board of directors and was general manager and secretary and he became managing director in July, 1930. He relinquished the managing directorship in 1944 and retired from the board in May, 1951."
