HERBERT PETER BARROW RIGBY, born at Blackrod, near Wigan, on the 11th August, 1866, died in London on the 23rd December, 1909.

He served a pupilage to Mr. John Unsworth, and after being employed at Manchester and on water supply and river works in Tennessee, he was appointed in 1892 Resident Engineer on the Cape Town sewerage, having full charge of the works after Mr. W. T. Olive’s retirement.

Subsequently, as Drainage Engineer, he carried out the storm-water drainage of the city, completed in 1905.

He was elected an Associate Member on the 1st December, 1891, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 23rd April, 1901.
