"HERBERT TREADRIN DODDS was a member of the Institution for over half a century, having been elected to Associate Membership in 1898. After serving his time in the locomotive department of the Taff Vale Railway at Cardiff, from 1882 to 1892, he joined the Barry Railway and Dock Co as a junior draughtsman and four years later was appointed assistant locomotive engineer. He retained this position until 1905 when he left the service of the company and became associated with a local firm of engineering representatives as a technical assistant.

He remained with them until he went into business on his own account as an engineer's representative in 1932. Mr. Dobbs died on 11th May 1951 at the age of seventy-nine."
