1938 Obituary [1]

HOWARD KIBBLER was connected for practically the whole of his career with the East Ferry Road Engineering Works Company, Ltd., London. After completing his education at St. John's College, Hurstpierpoint, he entered the firm as an articled pupil in 1900 and received a four years' training in the workshops and drawing office. After further experience as a draughtsman he was temporarily employed on the design of cement works for Manchester and North Wales, but returned to the firm in 1906 and was engaged on general mechanical design work until 1912, when he became chief draughtsman.

He was associated with the design of pneumatic grain elevators for the Surrey Docks and of some 700-ton hydraulic presses for a Walthamstow firm. His chief work, however, lay in the design of hydraulic equipment for docks and harbours, but during the War he was engaged upon the production of armaments. Subsequently he was made a director of his firm, and held this position until his death, which occurred on 5th July 1938, in his fifty-seventh year.

He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1912.
