Hugh Gorham Ticehurst (1871-1930)
1913 Witnessed the crash of a monoplane into the Thames, close to the works where he was manager; the plane had taken off from the Vickers flying ground. [1][2]

HUGH GORHAM TICEHURST, M.B.E., had been associated with the Thames Ammunition Works since 1893, when he was appointed assistant manager and was engaged on the design and construction of plant for the manufacture and manipulation of explosives for ordnance and blasting.
In 1900 he was appointed manager and in 1915 works superintendent, a position which he held until his death on 18th June 1930.
He was born in 1871 and his early training was obtained at the works of Messrs. Taylor and Challen and Messrs. Grenfell and Accles of Birmingham.
Mr. Ticehurst became an Associate Member of the Institution in 1898 and was transferred to Membership in 1902.
