Hyder Consulting

From Graces Guide

Hyder Consulting is a multi-national design and engineering consultancy.

From the company's website:-

Hyder Consulting was listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 2002.

During the 19th and 20th centuries, Freeman Fox and Partners and John Taylor & Sons built international reputations in the respective fields of bridges and highways and water and wastewater. Collectively, they were responsible for the design of projects such as the Victoria Falls Bridge, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Humber Bridge, the Severn Bridge, the Shanghai water supply project and major water and sewerage projects in Leningrad (now St Petersburg) and Tehran. These two firms merged in 1988 to form Acer Consultants. Over the following few years, the expertise of many other specialist firms was incorporated to form a major worldwide infrastructure consultancy.

The company was acquired by Welsh Water in 1993 and renamed as Hyder Consulting in 1996. Over the following years, Hyder Consulting spearheaded Hyder plc's move into providing total infrastructure solutions including advice, finance, design and operation.
